Operations Planner (Space Based SSA) Craftsman
Job Description and Requirements:
USfalcon, Inc., recognized as one of the fastest growing, privately held companies in the United States, is seeking an Operations Planner (Space Based SSA) Craftsman to work out of Schreiver AFB, CO.
USfalcon is seeking an Operations Planner (Space Based SSA) to support the SPACE FLAG (SF)/Advanced Training (AT) team at Schriever AFB, CO. SF is a mission planning exercise designed to prepare tactical-level space operators to execute operations in a realistic contested, degraded, and operationally limited (CDO) environment against a thinking and determined adversary. This Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) sponsored exercise focuses exclusively on the space domain, rather providing space services to others. The Operations Planner serves as the SF team's space-based space situational awareness (SSA) subject matter expert (SME).
* Bachelor degree from an accredited institution in Space Operations, Engineering, Operational Research, Strategic Studies or a space-
related field. Eight additional years of experience may be substituted for education requirement.
* Ten years of operational space experience
* Current or previous experience (within the last five years) working in the 1st Space Operations Squadron (1 SOPS), 18 Space Control Squadron (18
SPCS) or equivalent unit, the 614 AOC Combat Operations (COD) Space Control (formerly Unified Space Vault (USV)), or Air Force Space
Command's (AFSPC) Space Analysis Branch
* Headquarters staff experience
* Previous experience designing, planning, preparing, executing, and/or evaluating United States Air Force (USAF) space capabilities in Service, Joint
Chiefs of Staff (JCS) or Combatant Command (CCMD) exercises
* Final Top Secret/SCI Security clearance
* This position requires limited CONUS travel
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree from an accredited institution in Space Operations, Engineering, Operational Research, Strategic Studies or a space-
related field.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook)
* Understanding of the Space Surveillance Network (SSN) tasking procedures, satellite catalog maintenance, and the relationships
between Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC), interagency and coalition Space Situational Awareness (SSA)
* Understanding of the 1 SOPS mission, capabilities and limitations, tasking and reporting procedures and end user requirements
* Have a solid understanding of Service and Joint space mission areas, BMC2 constructs, and knowledge of current space policy and
* Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to focus on building customer relationships
* Self-motivated, detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
* Possess strong leadership, negotiation, time management, organization, problem solving, risk analysis, and team building skills
* Aptitude to gather diverse and sometimes opposing stakeholders to work collaboratively to solve complex problems across multiple
agencies internal and external to AFSPC
* Proven ability to meet strict deadlines, prioritize work, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously without supervision
* Proven ability to lead large teams in a collaborative, multi-project environment
* Ability to work in stressful and high-pressure situations
* Previous command or operations officer experience
* USAF Weapons School graduate
* Thorough understanding of operating space-based SSA systems in a CDO environment
* Previous assignments in AFSPC's Operations or Requirements Directorate
* Three years of exercise planning experience
* Graduate of Space 300 and the ASOPS Advanced Orbital Mechanics and SSA Advanced courses
* Experience using Integrated Space Situational Awareness (ISSA) or Satellite Toolkit (STK) to plan analysis of orbital maneuvers
* Current or previous experience (within the last five years) working in the 50 Operations Support Squadron (50 OSS) or 50 Operations
Group (50 OG)
* Experience with Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) operations supporting the Director, Space Forces (DIRSPACEFOR), in support
of the Space Cell, or working in other CAOC divisions
* Current or previous experience (within the last five years) working in an operational Space squadron,Space Wing (SW), the National
Space Defense Center (NSDC), the 614 AOC/Joint Space Operations Center (JSpOC), or the Space Security & Defense Program (SSDP)
* Experience with specific JSpOC Divisions (e.g., Combat Operations Division (COD), Combat Plans Division (CPD), Strategy Division
(SRD), and Unified Space Vault (USV))
* Possess working knowledge of tools used for exercise planning such as Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS), Joint
Master Scenario Events List (JMSEL), Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS), Defense Collaboration Services (DCS), Primary
Decision Aid System (PDAS), Joint Operational Planning and Execution System (JOPES), etc.
* Serves as the Distributed Mission Operations Center - Space (DMOC-S) space-based SSA (i.e., 1 SOPS) SME in support of SF exercises
and unit-level AT events
* Assists 1 SOPS POCs with drafting advanced training objectives (TOs) and developing and planning unit involvement in SF exercises
* Coordinates 1 SOPS support and manning requirements with SF exercise planners
* Gathers information, establishes liaisons and coordinates with key internal and external stakeholdersand integrates inputs into SF
exercises or AT events
* Interacts with other contractors to identify synergies between SF exercise objectives and AT lesson plans and academics
* Interacts with 1 SOPS on a regular basis (e.g., RSP AT Measures (RAMs) development and execution, Crew Readiness Verification
(CRV) events, and SF exercises) to identify opportunities where DMOC-S can integrate modeling and simulation (M&S;) capabilities into
AT events
* Identifies gaps and shortfalls in M&S; tools needed to provide timely, realistic SF exercise capabilities
* Provides assistance to planning conferences, coordination meetings, training events, etc.
* Participates as part of the Exercise Control Group (ECG) and White Cell, as required
* Captures, analyzes, and reports observations and lessons learned identified during the design, planning, and execution of SF exercises
and AT events
* Supports hot wash debriefs and After Action Report development after each SF exercise or AT event
* Prepares event-related documents (i.e., trip reports, exercise planning/execution products, after-action reports, lessons learned,
meeting minutes) within established time frames
* Provides accurate and timely responses to DMOC-S tasks and coordinates responses in accordancewith command policies and
* Carries out any other tasks that may be required in order to ensure DMOC-S mission success for SF exercise and AT events
* Additional duties as assigned.
